Pastel chanteuse Connie Merlot brought her Caribbean-themed song, story and poetry revue Amour Tropicale to Re-bar on Feb. 12, backed by her two-man band and their patented brand of easy-listening songs, Softronix™. René (shown here with Merlot) laid down a bed of island rhythms, mellow synths and midi-saxophone, while Joyce added percussive accents and vocals. The pre-Valentine’s Day audience of lovers and lonely hearts swooned and swayed to Miss Connie’s stories of romance and truck-stop parking lots.
