When Christopher Boffoli began his cheeky “Big Appetites” series of photographs, he chose food as a subject for its vibrancy, textural interest and approachability. “Combining what are essentially food and toys makes the work instantly accessible to virtually everyone,” Boffoli says. His piece “Cereal Rower” was created as a commission earlier this year, and Boffoli was so pleased with the result that he’s added the image to his solo show Amuse-Bouche, on view through Dec. 23 at Winston Wächter Gallery. In this image, a tiny rower drifts on a sea of milk, surrounded by Lucky Charms and a few fish and jellyfish marshmallows from the out-of-production Finding Nemo cereal.
