“With design we’re solving problems,” says Corey Gutch, 39, co-founder of Civilization, a boutique design firm on Capitol Hill. “It’s not so much about self-expression. That’s what art’s for.” Civilization is known for artful problem solving, whether it’s the Frye Art Museum’s #SocialMedium project, the strange new Shabazz Palaces website or the SeattleDesign Lecture Series, set for its second run next year.
