Rights Of Spring

Members of traditional Aztec Dance group Ce Atl Tonalli danced through the streets from Judkins Park to Seattle Center on May 1, as part of the 18th annual May Day March for Workers and Immigrant Rights. The group, founded in 2004, fosters close connections between American dancers and their Mexican counterparts and heritage. Marches were held around the city and the country; this May Day March rang with particular poignancy, as protestors took a peaceful, public stand against the increase in immigration raids and growing anti-immigrant sentiment in the American halls of power.
