The brand-new mixtape of hardware dance music by Seattle's fave underground label

Like I said in my News & Notes item this month, MOTOR powers Seattle’s electronic music underground. This Saturday, the eclectic collective celebrates the 20th monthly installment of its eponymous dance party with an eight-hour (!!!) freakout at Kremwerk. Expect an intoxicating, groove-drenched trip through the outer reaches of hardware electronica—all for $5.

“I wanna get in front of Seattle and say, ‘You’re gonna like this, you’re gonna wanna own this’,” MOTOR label chief Sam Melancon told me. Here’s your chance to own at least a sliver of MOTOR: To get you in the mood for Saturday’s throwdown, Melancon compiled an exclusive, hour-long mixtape of MOTOR artists that veers from synth-rockin’ electro-disco to thumping machine-beat techno to some deeply abstract cosmic territory. Starting things off are previously unreleased tracks by Seattle’s Mood Organ and Bankie Phones and recently relocated Oaklander Black Hat. Check out the full stream below and download it for later; NSFW if your boss isn’t down with chair dancing.
