Did you know that Rockin’ Robin Roberts, who sang for the Wailers, died in an automobile accident?
It’s true! On December 22, 1967, Lawrence Roberts II died in a head-on collision on the Bayshore Freeway in San Mateo, California. He was twenty-seven. Roberts sang for the Wailers for four years, recording the Tacoma band’s most famous track, “Louie, Louie,” which launched the era of ’60s garage band music. His ashes are buried in the Tacoma Cemetery. •
