Jon Dore, an avuncular beer-drinking Canadian, is game for just about anything onstage. Witness his last appearance at Laughs, where, in the middle of his set, he wandered out a side door into the parking lot “to have a smoke” and told 10 minutes of jokes from outside, then wandered back in puffing an e-cigarette. The sight of that audience staring, enraptured, at an empty stage, was a moment in which the show became both larger and more frivolous than most people imagine standup can be, and those type of moments are Jon Dore’s specialty.
Here’s Jon Dore with erstwhile semi-Seattleite Rory Scovel performing one of the funniest sets you’ll ever see on late night television. (You might have to watch it twice to catch all the genuinely hilarious jokes) :
Jon Dore will be at Laughs Comedy Spot June 28–30.
