Band Crush: Prom Queen & the Black Tones

Prom Queen & the Black Tones at Band Crush

On February 10, 2018, City Arts brought together mutual admirers Prom Queen and the Black Tones for our fourth edition of Band Crush. The bands joined each other in collaboration—accompanied by a horn section—for a live musical mashup we captured in photos and video.

We couldn’t have hosted such an awesome event without our friends at American Music, Artist Home and the Piranha Shop. Thanks for making history with us! And be on the lookout for our next installment of Band Crush May 2018.

More About the Artists

Prom Queen’s music marries technicolor B-movie sounds with dark-surf, girl-group noir. The Black Tones incorporate the New Orleans roots of twin siblings Eva and Cedric Walker into a goody bag of blues, punk and black power.

Years ago, the Black Tones’ Walker was such a fan of Prom Queen that she decided that she and singer-songwriter-fashion icon Celene Ramadan were going to be friends. She was right. “‘Crush’ is an understatement. We’re in love with each other’s bands!” says Walker.
