The rumors about Sub Pop inking a deal with the Head and the Heart were confirmed today as the iconic Seattle label announced that it has made good on its “worst-kept secrets in recent memory” and officially signed the city’s most buzzed about band.
They’re not wasting any time getting into it; the label has already made the band’s formerly self-released debut available on all digital outlets and will be releasing it in CD and (joy!) LP form on April 16, a k a Record Store Day. This international release of the album does differ in at least one major way from the original: the addition of one new track, the live favorite “Rivers and Roads.”
Also, the label is sending the band on a two-month long tour that starts at the tiny and charming Green Frog Tavern in Bellingham on Thursday, hits its apex with a gig opening for the Walkmen in Shepherd’s Bush Empire on January 25 (that’s crazy!) and rounds out with a March 13 show at Low Spirits in Albequerque.
Where they go from there is anyone’s guess. But we’re guessing, up.
Update: According to the band’s Facebook, the new album is completely remastered and includes a re-recorded version of “Sounds Like Hallelujah.”
