After a life-changing astrology reading in her 20s, Stephanie Gailing walked away with a profound sense of understanding and new career aspiration. Twenty-five years later the New Jersey native is still practicing astrology, guiding clients toward greater clarity, joy and creativity. As the astrologer-in-residence at the Cloud Room on Capitol Hill, Gailing hosts AstroSalons on topics ranging from Mercury Retrograde to the changing seasons. “We can evidence psychological insights that allow people to know themselves better and make more conscious choices in their lives.”

Tune Finder
“I just received a record player for my birthday, which is re-inspiring my relationship with music. I had a big decision to make: What would be the first vinyl I’d purchase? The answer: Amy Winehouse’s Back to Black.”

Water Baby
“Whether walking along Alki, going to Golden Gardens or traveling to Vashon, the sea around Seattle is one of the things that drew me to the Northwest and keeps me here.”

Iconic Art
“Currently, I love [artist] Jennifer Ament’s work. Not surprisingly, I’m quite drawn to her
Land of Mystics series as well as her moon phase prints.”

Chic Boutique
“Sell Your Sole in Belltown is my favorite spot to shop for clothing. [Owner] Natalia Wittke curates a beautiful collection of consigned designer clothes and accessories—I can find great stylish pieces at a fraction of the cost if I were to buy them new. I recently bought an Akris cardigan there, and it’s my current favorite.”

Page Turner
“I love The Book of Symbols! It details the meaning of hundreds of archetypal images, looking at them across history and cultures. I use it a lot with dreamwork, looking up images that appear in either my or clients’ dreams to get more insights into what they may be revealing.”
