Tariqa Waters/Martyr Sauce

“You might’ve heard of Martyr Sauce, the little renegade gallery we started here five years ago. Well we’re taking it to the next level.” Tariqa Waters is looking into the camera as she speaks, strolling through Pioneer Square in cutoffs and a kimono before descending the steps into her subterranean art gallery/concert venue/artist refuge. This is the sizzle reel for Martyr Sauce Underground, the variety show on which Waters is currently finishing post-production. The painter, curator and conceptual artist hosts the show, which features interviews and performances by freethinking friends such as Clyde Peterson, DoNormaal and Guayaba. The Seattle depicted on MSU is a sexy, celebratory, turbo-charged incubator of inclusive art and ideas. Who doesn’t wanna tune into that?
