There’s more tears than surprises in Feo Aladag’s melodrama about an Istanbul mother who takes her husband’s abuse until she can’t take it any more, so she takes their young son and beats it back to Germany. Since they’re German citizens, the good news is, the authorities are on her side. The bad news is, her family and the Turkish immigrant community is not. Sibel Kekilli is affecting in the star part. —TIM APPELO
