The Jayhawks
Before there was Whiskeytown, before there was Uncle Tupelo, there were the Jayhawks, the original Americana band. Throughout the late ’80s and into the mid '90s, the Minneapolis band combined Gary Louris’ fuzzed-out power pop guitar lines with Mark Olson’s folk influences, topped off by the duo’s kismetic harmonies. Olson left in 1995 and the Jayhawks continued without him for a decade. Now, after a brief reunion tour, reissues of its landmark albums and the release of a new one, the original lineup is back and, if reports are correct, better than ever.
