The Song Show IX: The Lashes
The Lashes perform "Daddy's Little Girl" at The Song Show IX, hosted at the Triple Door on April 21, 2010.
Founded in Seattle in 2000 by frontman Ben Clark, this six-member group was considered one of the biggest rising stars in local power pop, earning acclaim for their catchy guitar sound and energy as a whole, but especially for Clark's voice and performance. In 2004, they released their first EP, Stupid Stupid, which built a strong fan base and eventually led to their full-length album, Get It. Soon after, the band had its network television debut on The Late Show with Craig Ferguson.
Their momentum fizzled in 2007 when guitarist Eric Howk (above, right) fell into an unmarked, twelve-foot-deep hole at a construction site. He sustained cracked vertabrea and spinal cord injuries, which left him paralyzed from the sternum down.
The Song Show marked the Lashes' first public appearance in 2010. It also turned out to be somewhat of a frustrating event. Read Mark Baumgarten's review on CAB.
