Behind the Scenes with Chris Mansfield of Fences
A mini-documentary sponsored by EMP | SFM
City Arts follows Chris Mansfield of Fences on the day the band performed at Bumbershoot 2010 in Seattle. Mansfield agreed to be stalked while he went about autographing albums, checking out other bands, playing acoustic on a rooftop and posing for pictures - you know, a typical day in the life of a musician on the eve of releasing his first full-length album.
In the interview, the singer/songwriter reflects on his approach to writing, on letting go of negative feedback from fans, on the evolution of his influences (from Bonnie Prince Billy to the Smiths) and the beginnings of Fences.
In the video he performs "Girls with Accents," solo in the rain at first, and later with the band at EMP's Sky Church during Bumbershoot.
Check out the impromptu music video for "Girls with Accents," which came out of the filming for this video.
