Doe Bay Fest 2010 Slideshow

This slideshow makes the exclusive Doe Bay Fest, held annually on Orcas Island, look more like an exotic island camping excusion than another predicatable alternative music fest. Photography by Brad Curran and Chris Daniel paints participants swimming, swilling, dancing and lounging, while musicians rotate on a lazy susan of funky stages. Music provided graciously by the Fruit Bats.

The Song Show Matt Bishop

Editor Mark Baumgarten chatting with artists while you watch and listen. Here’s how it works: Mark interviews three of the Northwest’s top songwriting talents and ask them to play a few songs for the crowd; he drinks a little bit; he accidentally disparages the audience; he begs forgiveness; a woman with xylophone makes you sing classic rock songs; and ultimately Mark hands the stage over to a band to close out the night. By the end, the assembled crowd will have a better idea of what goes into the great songs that fill our city’s clubs.
