DRAWN IN
During a secret meeting in mid-March at an undisclosed location (that looks a lot like Comic Book Ink), the Cartoonist’s League of Absurd Washingtonians initiated its tenth member, Anique Zimmer, also known as CLAW No. 10. Present at the ceremony were, left to right, Mark Brill, James Stowe, Michael A. Shaudis and Mark Monlux. Also present was the CLAW gong, a novelty pencil and a skull in a Mexican wrestling mask. SHAMROCKED
Doyle’s Pub bartenders took a break as the bands took the stage in the elaborate tent set up to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day (a few days early) on February 12. Tacoma’s own When Sails Meet the Rails played, but touring band Missionary Position stole the show when the lead singer grabbed a helium balloon, inhaled and sang an impossibly high note perfectly on key.
