Facts of Life
Thank you for the article on Gaya (“What Walter Gaya Saw,” March/April). I know that there is a story behind every photo, so understanding Mr. Gaya’s background adds depth to his images. Some may object to the Iraq War theme of the article. However, the war is a fact of life. As a veteran, I realize there is a huge sacrifice going on in the lives of each soldier fighting the war. Hopefully, our servicemen are aware of the humanity of their circumstances that is reflected in Gaya’s photos.

Messages of Moment
The March/April issue is the first I have seen. I don't know how I missed reading it before. I especially appreciated “Coming Home” and “Eyewitness,” both so full of such important and sincere messages for us all. Thanks for seeing that the messages were available to us. Do you have back issues I could pick up? I feel that I have somehow missed out on a lot not having read them. I did sign up on e-mail for future issues, but I would love to have hard copies of the back issues if you have them.
—Phyllis Bjorkman, Tacoma
The editors respond: Selected stories from past issues are archived online at www.cityartsmagazine.com. And copies of some back issues are still available. Please e-mail us at info@cityartsmagazine.com to order.

I drive by your Greenwood office [in Seattle] on the way home. I finally picked up some back issues of the Tacoma magazine. City Arts is a lovely magazine. — Blanca Santander, Seattle
Corrections
The Walkabout column in the May/June issue misidentified the proprietor of Dragonfly; Angela Schellenberg is co-owner of the shop. The photos associated with Dragonfly and Mineral were reversed; the large bug is among the curiosities displayed at Mineral.
