Lightjet print on Fuji Crystal Archive from original negative, 8 x 10 inches, 2010
Seattle-based photographer Dan Hawkins uses obsolete and archaic imaging processes to produce personal documents that deal with memory and decay. He has photographed empty houses, discarded water towers, EPA Superfund sites, chemical factories, decaying ballrooms, deserted nuclear facilities, crumbling hotels and several derelict mental hospitals and jails. This image shows a nuclear cooling tower in Satsop, Wash. Hawkins work will be on view thursday, Oct. 20 as part of Love & Anguish: Collected Acts of Transgression at the Heineken City Arts Fest.
