Handmade, without the Making

Ten local crafters on Etsy
with gifts that click.

What better way to show someone you care than with a homemade gift? This might be a no-brainer for the craft-inclined, but if the thought of a glue stick or knitting needles makes you cringe, fear not; we have compiled a list of our favorite local Etsy.com shops to help you give the perfect handcrafted gift. Even if it was made by someone else. •

b.childrenswear: Got a little one on the list this year? b.childrenswear offers handcrafted shirts, little hipster hoodies and onesies with rows of ruffles. Don’t forget the attitude: these clothes are for the très chic toddler.
Orange Twist: In an age in which typeface rules, it’s always refreshing to receive a handwritten note. Bold colors, delightful graphics and pop-art sensibility make these card sets a joy to give and receive.
FrenchGirlOrganics: For the friend who wouldn’t dream of bringing non-organic products into her home, FrenchGirlOrganics offers natural lip tints, antioxidant serums and rich, fragrant body creams. All organic, of course.
Andrewsreclaimed: Everyone likes something nice for the home. Products made from eco-friendly, reclaimed materials? Even better. Andrewsreclaimed has an abundance of items for the home and garden, and even gifts for Fido!
Michellelenae: Talk about statement jewelry. The stylish designs and ethereal gemstones of these pieces make them versatile enough to pair with jeans for day wear or a cocktail dress in the evening.
Coffeepurse: Okay, you knew it was coming: the obligatory coffee-related item. These seriously cool messenger bags are made from reclaimed coffee bags originating in locales such as Guatemala and sourced from local roasters.
Twozdai: The work of this artist combines acrylic paint and photo transfers to create haunting images from Seattle to Portland and beyond.
Tissage: We’re wild for the gorgeous, vintage-inspired hats and trinkets from this designer. So elegant, so 1920s, so fun! Great Gatsby party, anyone?
SongandBranch: It’s an established fact that things in miniature are just that much cuter. Flocks of tiny seagulls, cups small enough for a drop of dew...SongandBranch is full of whimsical items, all of them miniature, and all of them adorable.
CountingStitches: Hats, gloves and scarves, oh my! All you need to stay warm this winter is hand-knitted and available in a variety of colors. Bring on the cold.
