Catch This: The Novel: Live!

Thirty-six authors attempt to do the highly improbable - write a novel in under a week.
The Novel: Live! has assembled an amazing roster of local authors to attempt this literary feat, including bestsellers (Elizabeth George, Garth Stein), non-novelists (Ed Skoog, David Lasky) and local literary icons (Stacey Levine, Karen Finneyfrock). From today through Saturday, each of the authors will spend two hours writing on the Hugo House's Cabaret stage, picking up the story where the previous author left off, all in front of a live audience.
To promote the event and the local literary scene, participating authors will hold readings at bookstores around Seattle throughout the week. Local writers as well as TNL participants will be on hand during nightly happy hours through Thursday at the Hugo House to talk with visitors about writing. Anyone interested can follow the novel's progress online.
Though it probably won't be the next Great American Novel, the Novel: Live! is a way to see some of the best local talent in action, and under pressure.
