7 Illuminating Things from the Weekend: October 4
1. Visitors to convention-style events want two things from your info booth: free stuff and/or candy. If you don’t have one of these things, you might as well leave those pretty brochures by the door on your way out.

Inspiration for my next arts information booth.
2. If they designed the SAT more like “The Simpsons Scene It” trivia game, I would have gone to Harvard. Or at least some school outside of Texas.
3. 7 Seas Brewing is not joking around with their Imperial IPA, which is affectionately named 7 Seas Ballz Deep. Thanks for all the erased memories, Naked City.
4. Dr. Mario for Nintendo 64 will probably permanently damage your vision. But it’s totally worth it when you’re schooling three of your cockiest cohorts.
5. Going for walks is good for your health – and also increases your chances for seeing adorable kids donning their Halloween costumes early. (I’ll never forget you, tiny Buzz Lightyear.)
6. Say yes to “Fig Newton Pudding Pie.” It doesn’t really have Newtons in it. Just pure, joyful memories of the weirdest snack I’ve ever loved.
7. I don’t know why, but I forgive Kurt Russell for being sort of a bad actor. (p.s. Thanks to whoever left that VHS copy of Overboard in their free box.)
