Jake Newman
Associate publisher Jake Newman is a deeply conflicted man.
Born and raised in Hoboken, New Jersey, he remains unsatisfied with his choices for pizza and authentic Cuban food in Seattle, but cannot imagine life without fresh sushi. (He’ll go to the mat for the café con leche served at his favorite Cuban restaurant back home versus any coffee out west.)
To Jake, Bruce Springsteen is a God-like icon. His son is named after Johnny Cash, but he’ll admit that Slippery When Wet was the first record he owned.
Ultimately, he despises mosquitoes, humidity and the show Cake Boss, so he’s staying in Seattle. Jake is also a rare mix of Jew and Quaker, so he struggles daily to complain silently.
Jake currently spends his time in and out of the City Arts offices working on marketing, events and “business development." To contact Jake, e-mail jaken@cityartsmagazine.com. He is always working unless he is watching Jersey Shore and feeling homesick.
